BOOK NAME: Running Out of Time
AUTHOR: Margaret Peterson Haddix
Jessie is a girl who lives in the 1860s where all of the kids in Clifton, Indiana have been diagnosed with a deadly disease called diphtheria. The problem is that nobody has the right cure, so Jessie’s mom has to tell her the truth: They don’t actually live in the 1860′s and have been living in a tourist exhibit in 1996. Mr. Clifton, the man who runs the exhibit, wasn’t giving Clifton the right medicine that they needed so Jessie’s mom sends her out of Clifton to find a man named Mr. Neeley who will help the people of the town. What will Jessie do to save her friends, and will she risk her life?
I would give this book a four out of five because I liked how interesting and unique it is to live in a tourist exhibit. It’s cool seeing Jessie try to figure out the 1996 world around her like getting used to light bulbs and cars. The book had a great beginning and middle but an ending that I thought was just okay. I really enjoyed Jessie’s escape from Clifton.
If you are interested in science fiction and historical fiction than this is the right book for you. Other books that Margaret Peterson Haddix has written are The Shadow Kids series, Double Identity, and The Lost Book Found.
I hope that you have been inspired by my review and will consider reading the book, Running Out Of Time.
