David is a tenant living with Liz and her daughter Lucy. Liz makes special dragons out of clay. She makes one for David named Gadzooks, who is a writing dragon.

Lucy asks David to tell her a story and David says maybe. Lucy tells David about two squirrels named Conker and Snigger. Conker has an injured eye so they try to trap him and bring him to the vet. It’s almost Lucy’s birthday so David writes a story called Snigger and the Nut Beast. On Lucy’s birthday David isn’t finished so he reads the first couple of chapters in the book and Lucy loves it. David starts to figure out that the clay dragons are real! He pictures Gadzooks in his mind and the dragon writes something on his notebook and it helps David on his book.

Lucy and David catch Conker and bring him to Sophie for help. David and Sophie fall in love, but Sophie tells them that Conker is going to die. Lucy and David are very sad. You have to read the rest because I don’t want to give away the whole thing! The next book in the series is IceFire

Greatings Reed and fellow book lovers! I have heard that this book is good, but I’ve never actually picked it up. It may have been a different book, but I’ve also heard that this book is kind of grusome/disturbing, but I’m not sure. Can somebody answer this??? thanks:)

I thougt they had it at Katy Budget Books, but when I looked in my favorite section where it would have been, it wasn’t there anymore!!! They used to have it!! You know it’s bad when everyone in the bookstore knows you by name. Not just you, either. Your whole family! :)

I didn’t read this yet, but I hope that I can because it sounds pretty good. If I had one of those dragons, I would want it to be a homework dragon. So it would do my homework.

I am reading Fire Star, the third book in the series. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find The Fire Within in my school library. Fire Star is very good! I would give this book four of five stars!

The other Chris D’Lacey books include Ice Fire, Fire Star, The Fire Eternal, and Dark Fire. I hope there are more books coming in this magnificent series! Chris D’Lacey really did a good job with these books. I’ve now finished Ice Fire, which is great, I rate 5 out of 5 stars.

For anybody just wondering: if you check out Chris D’Lacey’s website, there is a link that sends you to a website for selling actual models of the clay dragons!
