In this book, four kids about 12 years old and one extremely smart 2 -year-old go on an amazing adventure. But what they all don’t know is they all came from the same types of family which makes them come together even more. After taking maybe the most life-changing test EVER, they meet the writer of it all, Mr. Benedict.

Mr. Benedict sends Kate Weatherall, Reynie Muldoon, Sticky (George) Washington, and Constance Contraire to his twin brother’s school for the gifted where they stop future drama and meet new friends on the way. While their summer isn’t going quite how they planned,
Kate and her dad Milligan save their friends Reynie and Sticky from the whisperer while Constance uses her well-known way of rejecting things to try and shut down the whisperer. I was up reading for hours every night hope you enjoy this book as much as I did

    Lily,

Thank you for your recommendation of The Mysterious Benedict Society. I have read the book and I agree that the book is good. However, in your review you have revealed too much of the plot.

With that said, I agree that the book is fun and I recommend it, too.

I loved this book series!!!!!! I read the first and second one, and I’m am SO excited about reading the third one when it comes out! I lended them to my friends, and now we are all Mysterious Benedict Society fans. These are GREAT books, action-packed. When my mom gave it to me, I thought it was going to be some ol’boring book. Once I got into it (which was about the 5th page), I couldn’t put it down!!! Great book, I reccomend it to everyone who enjoys action, kid-power, and the true meaning of friendship!!

I absolutly loove this book and recomend it to anyone who likes logic puzzles, surprising events, and odd characters. When I read this I loved it because it seemed like kids like me were doing this stuff. I’m like them. Above-avrage. (That’s at least what my mom said) And for once it actully seems like kides like me are doing this kind of thing. My brother and I started using morse code to each other and it’s really fun. That’s the kind of code that they use in the book. Well, bye!

This book is awesome! It’s full of everything I like- a little fantasy, mystery, excitement, and some other stuff. My favorite part is when the children had a snowball fight and Mr. Benedict would laugh, and then sleep, and laugh and sleep and laugh and sleep over and over again. It was a spectacular book. I’ve already read the second book. So anyways, I would recomend that all people read “The Mysterious Benedict Society”. =)

I loved this book! I’m commenting again :) But I read the third one. I don’t see how they could make a 4th, but they should. I love the ending. It was so sweet! (I won’t give anything away!)

This book was so cool. I am most like Kate and Constance :) Maybe like Reynie.. or Sticky.. it’s too hard to decide! :)

I reread this book four times because each time you notice something different. I love it! I reccomend it to speedy readers who love action!

    November 11, 2009, 3:09 pm

This book had me sweating like crazy because I was so nervous! Constance is my favorite character out of the whole book. The twists and turns in this book were so amazing! The riddles were so amazing and hard I couldnt even figure them out! The characters were so awesome with figuring things out that whenever they figured the riddles out i was so surprised! (ed. note: spoiler removed) Sticky is smart nobody could beat his in a smart contest! Reynie is like the leader of the group but is not better at morse code than Sticky! Reynie is like the third or second smartest next to Kate. But Reynie is really good at figuring riddles out! I loved this book!

    November 12, 2009, 10:41 am

This book is awesome. And sandstripes you’re right, Twilight isa little better. The part in the book where constance gets captured by those men, is my favorite part in the entire book. It said that there was something lumpy in the bag, then suddenly, Constance’s feet popped out! That made me laugh like crazy! But I had to laugh in my head and giggle a little bit aloud. I had to because I was in my classroom!!!!!!!!!!! I hope whoever reads this book likes it because your probably pee your pants it’s so funny!
P.S. I’m sorry for spelling mistkaes if I made any!!

Oh and also, in the dream, the Whisperer sounded like one of those computer voices that picks up the phone at the operator when it was talking to that guy. The places you can get this book are at any bookstore (Barnes and Noble, Borders, etc.) in the young adult section. I actually got the third book, The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner’s Dilemma, from an “everything” store while I was on vacation, but I forgot the name of it. These are the times when I really wish I had Sticky’s amazing memory (bangs head on desk). You can also get the books at your local library, and, if you have one, you can buy it as an audiobook for your ipod. Sorry, I kind of got carried away. But anyway, that’s where you get the Mysterious Benedict Society books in case you were wondering!

I loved Constance! She was definately my favorite. I liked when she was in the Whisperer and she started yelling stuff like “The Great Kate Weather Machine!” when the Whisperer asked her name. By the way, ranchergal, Constance is two for most of the book, but she turns three at the end. Actually, she isn’t three at all in the first book, because she says that her birthday is not for one month at the end, and probably only one day passed after she said that.
    Twilight is not better!

I love this book, and I really don’t think you should have spoiled the most interesting things that a normal reader wouldn’t have learned until near the end of the story. That’s disrespectful to the book and the author, and ruins it for everyone who might read it. Please be careful next time.
Don’t take my comments personally; I just wanted to offer some constructive criticism and defend readers of the awesome series we know as MBS.
Oh yeah, almost forgot. The average age of the characters is not 12. Its…*does quick calculations*… exactly 9.
    MBS forever!!!

This is one of my all-time favorite books. It isn’t well known, which kind of surprises me because it is such a good book, but I stumbled onto it a few years ago and have read it over half a million times. My favorite character is Constance, maybe because she is strong-headed and stubborn (which sounds like the same thing but really isn’t) and determined to be obstinate. This book is really well written, and the thought of messages being sent through electromagnetic rays directly into our brains is creepy… but is actually real technology. It’s called subliminal messaging and Curtain’s messages work on the same principles. Look it up.

This is a great book, one of my favorites and I recommend you read the series. There’s also a Mysterious Benedict Society puzzle book , and the riddles and puzzles are so tricky!

The Mysterious Benedict Society series is a very good series and I really love it! For those of you who have read the previous three books, I recommend these two books: Mr. Benedict’s Book of Elusive Enigmas, Conundrums, or something like that–it is a book of puzzles about half the thickness of most books in the series and some of the puzzles are very difficult! I know I got the title wrong (I forgot the exact title XD). The other book is called The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict. That book is somewhat like the prequel to the series, so make sure you read it because that, too, is a great book! :D

In The Mysterious Benedict Society, When a strange add in the paper saying, “Are you a gifted child looking for special opportunities?” Dozens of children enroll in a series of tests but in the end only four were selected. They go on a secret mission and……. you will have to read the rest!

This is one of my favorite books! Kate is my favorite character, because I’m exactly like her! One of the MANY things I liked about this book is that it was all friendship and adventure and no romance. (arent we a little young for that?)I enjoyed that Trenton Lee Stewart wrote it as a kid would. The adventures we daydream about in school, a very interesting group of friends, and different characters that at least one of them we could understand and compare ourselves with. The plot was very creative!
I would just like to say that Trenton Lee Stewart is an AMAZING author and I have all the books in the series! I can’t choose my favorite, and recommend all of them!

P.S. I agree with everyone else, WAY too many spoilers!!!
