This is a graphic novel of the famous story Tom Sawyer. It’s about a boy named Tom Sawyer and his best friend Huckleberry Finn, who’s an orphan.

They have these crazy adventures. Once Huck found a dead cat and he said that if you put it on a just-buried persons’ grave, the devil will come and take the cat. And as a reward, the devil will take a wart away – no matter how big it is. So they put the dead cat on a grave and Tom thinks he sees the devil. But really it was grave robbers. Tom and Huck go hide behind a tree and the grave robbers end up getting into a fight and one gets killed. Tom is an eye witness and has to go to court because he saw what really happened. He frees the guy who didn’t kill him, and says who it really was – Injun Joe. Joe jumps out the window and runs away.

The rest of the book is other cool adventures like once they went to an island and they forgot to tie their raft up. They were stuck there for a day! But don’t worry…he meets Injun Joe again.

This is just one classic book that’s a graphic novel. There are others in the series like Dracula.

I’m reading The Magician’s Elephant next. It’s by Kate Dicamillo who also wrote Tales of Despereaux which I reviewed. See ya next time.

I don’t get why people make graphic novels of famous children’s books. Alex Rider graphic novels I can understand, but really? Tom Sawyer?

Has anyone read the book Ivanhoe? It’s supposed to be a very good book. If someone happens to read it, could you do a book report on it?

I read the shortened original, it’s really good! Why read a graphic novel when you can read the great shortened original?

I read the book for “literature circle” (THE ORIGINAL) in my 4-6 grade class. Read the original too! Its not that hard. BTW, only the last Twiglight is kind of ‘grown up’,but you will probably be bored by them anyways.

I don’t know. The graphic novels are never as good, but maybe if I read this graphic one, before the REAL one, I may like it better.

I read the “Dracula” graphic novel! I have it! And I read an abridged version of Tom Sawyer.

I read a manga modernized “Romeo and Juliet” once, too, but I didn’t like it. Stick to “West Side Story,” guys.

When I read Tom Sawyer I read the novel. When I first started reading it was kind of confusing because I never took the chance to read a book that wasn’t related to our time period. While I was reading the book I noticed a lot of superstition was involved between Tom and Huck. Do you believe in any superstitions? Also there was a lot of action and mystery in the book. Like when Tom and Huck was trying to find treasure. What was your favorite action part in the book? Overall, I didn’t really like it; it was too hard and didn’t catch my attention. Natalie140299 I agree you should read the novel over the graphic novel it probably has more information.

Why are you talking about “Twilight” on a Tom Sawyer blog? I haven’t read the graphic novel but I have read the novel in its original language. In this book it said if you carry a dead cat around it cures warts like you said but the devil doesn’t take the cat away. I hope you read the original novel, but be careful it can be confusing. Ripuk1212 I agree that he is a great author. I like how he tells his life stories.

I thought this blog was supposed to be about Tom Sawyer! Anyway there is no fun in graphic novels. They are short and leave out a ton of information. I read the real Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and this has got to be one of the greatest books in American literature. How could any one change that? This is a classic I am talking about here! Not only is the original better it can very well enhance your reading skills. This is a very complex book to read, but you can use the extra knowledge. The complexity of this book uses sophisticated words to describe the hectic life of a young boy. Now to Ripuk1212 and Dude01 I highly agree. Mark Twain is one of my favorite authors that I have ever read a book from. So here is my question. What are you’re favorite parts of the book? Mine is when Huck follows Injun Joe to the widow’s house!

I read the Tom Sawyer the classic version and I thought it was boring. It was hard to read. This book is for adults, people who like literature, or Mark Twain fans. The only parts I liked in the book were when Injun Joe left the court room by jumping out the window and at the end when Injun Joe got trapped in the cave. I saw the movie in school and it was a lot better than the book. They were way different because I could understand the story better as I watched it on the screen. The language in the book was too confusing to me it slowed me down. I agree with 2whitie because after reading this novel I don’t think novels are any fun either. I haven’t found any novels I can get into any suggestions?

Tom Sawyer is a good book. I like it when Tom, and Huck were playing pirate and they left there family to go to the island. I like Tom Sawyer because it has a lot of action and adventure in it like when Injun Joe murdered the Doctor, and when Tom and Becky were lost in the cave and Tom saw Injun Joe in the cave, and he got trapped in there. I agree with u Dude01 mark twain is awesome!!

I read the original ‘The Adventures of tom Sawyer”, and it was a really good book. I also watched the movie in school and it was kind of good. I think that Tom Sawyer was really clever when he was whitewashing the fence. He is a trouble maker. The part when Injun Joe was after Tom was an exciting part, Injun Joe threw a knife at Tom and then jumped out da window. For ‘HappyStar243’, it IS a good book. I don’t really think that the graphic novel would be better. What I don’t really understand is when Tom and Huck got scared because of a dog.

I read the original book “The adventure of Tom Sawyer” it was a good book. I like it when Injun Joe killed Dr. Robinson. Than when in court Injun Joe jump out of the window. I agree with 2whitie because after reading novels are still not fun to read.

I like the original version of Tom Sawyer better because it has a lot more action than the graphic version. Graphic novels aren’t as interesting as the real version because you miss out on all the juicy parts. My favorite part of the book is when Injun Joe kills the doctor because I like action. I also like when Tom told the judge that Injun Joe murdered the doctor and not Muff Potter. Also, I enjoyed reading the part when Tom told the judge what really happened and Injun Joe jumped out the window. I agree with you Ripuk1212 and Dude01 Mark Twain is a really good author. So who else out there doesn’t like graphics?
