BOOK NAME: So B. It
AUTHOR: Sarah Weeks

Heidi’s Mom is not normal. She’s been diagnosed with Down syndrome and can’t talk right. Heidi doesn’t know anything about her mother’s past. They live with a friend named Bernadette who took care of them after Heidi’s mom was caught wandering outside with a baby. Heidi has been living with Bernadette for years now. Bernadette, on the other hand, is afraid to go outside ever since her father died so both Heidi and her mom has to go get the groceries and other chores.

One day Bernadette finds an old camera in the closet with peculiar pictures in it. One of them had her mom at some Christmas event next to a sign that read: Hillside Home. Heidi decided to take a bus all the way to Liberty, New York alone to try to find out the history of her family. The trip takes her about three days to arrive in New York, when she discovers the secret about her family.

I enjoyed reading this book because l liked the story line to it. It did get a little boring at parts though. I took a long time to get started since the first six chapters were from the past rather than present. My favorite part of the book was when Heidi found out that the manager of the Hillside Home was her grandfather and one of the mentally disordered men was her dad. My least favorite part of the book was at the end. I would like to read another one of her books because I like her creativity and the way that she writes.

I read this book last year and I thought it was a good book. Just like summergirl said I agree it is for kids 4th grade and up. My favorite part was when Heidi decided to go by herself and visit Hillside Home. I liked that she decided to be independent and was determined to find out where she came from. I thought the ending was so sad but when I got to the end I expected that her mother would die. I do agree that it was slow at the beginning and hard to get into.

I absolutely agree with you Musemagfan13! This book was amazing when I read it!!! Heidi is a wonderful girl who has family problems. She was going through a lot in her life. She was very strong while trying to be there for and understanding her mom through her down-syndrome. Heidi’s life was tuff as a child and she took stook some extreme measures. But I probably would have done the same things but I just don’t know why she would even try to go to New York all alone like that, I would have been scared to death! Wouldn’t you? I can really relate to this book even though my life story was very different. I just absolutely loved this book it is one of my all time favorites! I recommend this book to anyone who loves life-adventure stories and lots of drama cause I know I do! =)

I absolutely agree with ckd1998 loved this book even thought it was sad that the end when Heidi’s mom died I almost cried myself in my mom didn’t even die. What I want to know why her mom would want to get pregnant even though she has Down syndrome? It’s been so long since I read that book but it was one of the books that got me started reading. To me Heidi was a very strong understanding girl who went through hard times trying to understand her mothers past. I loved this book; this is one of the books I will never forget no matter how long I haven’t read it.

I read this book last year it was my favorite besides the Twilight series. 2whitie I didn’t have a teacher reade this to me I read it with a group of my friends and we did projects on it. Jordan I actually liked the beginning it was no where near boring to me. Everyday I read this book I was sad when we had to stop because it was a very touching story. The fact that her dad was from Hillside Home like her mom and her mom couldn’t remember who he was almost brought me to tears. For those of you who have read this can you PLEASE help me remember why the book was called So B. It?
