I know DogEared fans have been requesting a review of this book. It is one of the most popular books ever. So here it is.

Bella Swan just moved from Tennessee to a rainy city in Washington State called Forks, where she had decided to live with her dad for a few weeks. At Bella’s new school she discovers this creepy family, the Cullens, who like to keep to themselves. One of the kids name is Edward. One day Bella nearly gets hit by an out-of-control truck! Edward somehow saves her by stopping the truck. Soon she finds out that the Cullens are vampires! Bella and Edward fall in love with each other but it’s not long after when a bad vampire comes into town trying to chase down Bella. The Cullens have to save Bella, and save the rest of her family before it’s too late.

I LOVED this book!!! I did cheat and go see the movie first. It was a long book but totally worth it. I am now reading New Moon (I went to go see that movie first too!). I would definitely recommend this book to kids who are in middle school because it is a hard read. There are four books total in The Twilight Series and they have already made two of the movies. Eclipse and Breaking Dawn are the others.

Well, y’know, if I HAVE to pick I say Team Jacob, but usually I just shout “TEAM LUPIN!” (as in Remus Lupin, the werewolf from Harry Potter) and run away. Very amusing… to me.

I don’t understand the Twilight haters or the hardcore fans. I just thought it was, y’know, okay. I read the first three books, and then I didn’t feel like the fourth one was worth reading, even though a lot of my friends like them. (Peer pressure, aagh!)And you can’t say “Well, you don’t like romances, then! That’s not fair!” Seeing as I’m a girl and all, I do like romances. It isn’t my favorite genre, but I’ve read some really good ones. This one just… wasn’t that good.

I don’t want to be rude in any way, but your summary is kind of wrong. Bella moves from Arizona not Tennessee. She decides to live with her dad, not visit him for a few weeks. Please do not think I’m being mean. I’m just stating facts.
The book was very good, and I highly recommend it. Some people may not like it, but we all have differnt opinions. So, if you are interested in books like that, you need to get it.

Hmm? Twilight seems to be all the rage, but I am just not into the vampire scene. However, kids seem to like the romance of Bella and Edward, and I enjoy hearing them talk with excitement about the storyline…What self-respecting girl shouldn’t enjoy a great love story, right? However, I think I need some more persuasion as to why I should try it. So, all you Twilight fans, do the romance and mystery parts dominate the plot or is it mostly filled with gory vampire descriptions? Help me get into this series.
Earlier this year I was reading The Historian which was about the original vampire, Vlad the Impaler. The book was filled with lots of history about vampires along with solving a mystery. Yes a few people died, but I thought it was interesting to find out the history too.
Musemagfan13′s got me worried… it sounds like it wasn’t her thing. Was it because you weren’t into it to begin with or was the peer pressure too much to bear? I’m also in the same boat at Kim…just signed in and am new to the Twilight. Looking forward to some reasons to read it.

If you started the series, you kind of need to finish it…None of the other books are going to make sense if you skip a whole book.
Maybe you should suggest that the Twilight series is good for all ages.I’d like to know if your parents end up letting you read it.

After reading everyone’s posts, I was motivated to pick back up the Twilight series. I loved the first three books, and then lost interest for the fourth. I just started it this weekend and it seems fairly intense so far. luv2teach7, I don’t find Twilight to be tremendously gory. Action packed, but not gruesome. Stephanie Meyer does a really great job describing the action and giving the reader a feeling of suspense, yet staying true to the romance aspect/theme within the novel. Edward and Jacob would both risk it all to save their beloved Bella Swan. Do you other Twilight fans agree? Just out of curiosity, do you all think that Twilight is geared more towards males or females? I have a lot of male students that read the series and love it just as much as the females. Do boys like the romance too?
hermione10- I haven’t read any of the Harry Potter series yet, nor have I seen the movies. If I am a fan of Twilight, would I like Harry Potter? Would you classify both series in the same genre? I don’t necessarily consider Twilight to be a fantasy, but maybe I am mistaken.
BTW-I too found the Twilight movies to be only “so-so”. As usual, the book and my imagination prove to be more entertaining than any Hollywood production!

I only read New Moon which was pretty good, but I personally don’t like vampires. The series is so fascinating because Bella’s emotions are very dramatically expressed, and I like the romance between Bella and the vampire. I never read the first book though, but my sister saw both of the movies Twilight and New Moon and is eager to see the new Eclipse movie! To everyone out there, read New Moon, it is an interesting book, but read Twilight first!

I am a HUGE Twilight fan!!! Breaking Dawn is my favorite because it is when Bella to live happily with both Edward and Jacob. ILA rocks10 the Twilight series is for both boys and girls. I too have heard boys talking about it at too. The first time I read Twilight it took me a month because I wasn’t that into it. Were all of you Twilight fans into the book the first time you read it? Lina09Lopez I didn’t buy the movie (yet) but I went and saw in theaters and was a little disappointed by the werewolves because I thought they should be bigger by Stephanie Meyer’s description in the book. For all of you who saw the movie do you feel the same way. I’m sorry lil.nicole but I am most definitely NOT a Team Edward fan I absolutely adore Team Jacob. = )

i got the first book but i lost intrest on the first page. but I did read far enough(pg1) to find out that bella moved from Arizona to live Permanently with her father. i liked the movie much better because I’m not a big fan of reading.
Although I thought the movie was better I just thought the whole twilight thing was ok not my favorite but i can put up with it.
i have nothing negative to say about it!! Its great for some people!!

I really don’t get what’s so great about Twighlight. Really, Bella should just make up her mind about Edward and Jacob, for goodness’ sake. And from what I hear, the plot is basically a ripoff of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with a few obviouse exeptions. I should probably read the books before I make any hasty descisions, but that’s just me. Harry Potter rocks, by the way.

The twilight book was, well I didn’t, I couldn’t finish it. It was incredibly boring, with all the girls drooling over Edward and the story line just wasn’t that great. First of all it seemed as if what ever the girls name is, I’ll call her Kirsten, was totally unaware of anything, she was sooooo dull!!! Second of all the car crash, Edward throws himself in front of a car smashing a part of it and exposing his super human strength. You might as well write I’M A VAMPIRE!!! on his forehead. Third of all, I was telling some friends how booorriingg twilight is, and they told me it got good at the end. WHAT GOOD IS READING A BOOK IF IT ONLY GETS GOOD AT THE END!!!

Don’t even get me going about the movie. This was the ONLY movie that I wanted to be opposite of the book. Edward looked like he was going to pass out every 5 seconds, Kirsten looked like she was going to drool, because she always had her mouth open, and 3/4 of the movie was pure boringness. It would have been just as good if Kirsten sat in a chair 3/4 of the movie, reading her script off a piece of paper, while Edward sat in a chair facing her doing the same thing!!! And also Robert Pattinson was not a good choice to play the role as Edward. Once again he was too boorriinngg!!!

All right! People who want to read harry potter go find a post on that! This is Twilight not Harry Potter. If any of the Dog eared blogger were interested in harry potter they would have written a review on it. So if you don’t like it tell us why. The people who didn’t like just said their explaination was “Blah Blah Blah”. This is probably because it was way above their reading level. I read Harry potter it was great but this is Twilight so if you have an opinion on that just do it! If not just go do something else. All the people were looking for was a review on Twilight!

Twilights OK I guess. I like the Volturi better than the Cullens. But I LOVE YOU JACOB BLACK!!!!! I writing my own story about this girl who turns into a vampire by the Volturi and she battles the Cullens alot. She even breaks Jacob a coulple of times, they hat eachother! She’s Alec’s girlfriend and shes 13.

Musemagfan13, you sound a lot like me. I read the first two and half of the third one. The storyline was ok but i got so tired of Edward and Bella because they were so immature and unrealistic. If I had to pick a team I would say team Jacob because I like werewolves and hate vampires and he is one of the only characters i like in the books(the others are Alice, Emmet, and the rest of the werewolves). I should totally keep that in mind about the team Lupin! lol so funny and clever! Harry Potter will always be a classic, but in a few years Twilight will be forgotten.

Lol hypnocow that is so true. The book was super BORING. And it’s not because I was bored with romance, because I do not mind a good romance, it’s because the characters are so lame and dull. Bella is super annoying and don’t even get me started about Edward. The plot was so obvious and I don’t get why the author had to write four thick books about it when she could have just written “once upon a time this dull, annoying, and stupid girl fell in love with some vampire that she only liked because he looked like a model. The end” And the movie? Worse than the book (I don’t know how that’s possible). I laughed when you said that about Kristin’s mouth hanging open. And have you noticed the wierd blinking thing she does with her eyes? The two main actors were terrible and made the romance seem so unrealistic.

In my opinion, I think TWILIGHT sends out a bad message because Edward always saves Bella, every time she’s about to die! Therefore, the author makes Bella a helpless human who can’t take care of herself! Girls have more strength than that! All Bella thinks about throughout the book is “Do I like Jacob or Edward? OMG! I like them both! What am I going to do? I am in a TOTAL CRISIS!!!!!!!!!!”
Really, I’m not going to waste my time reading the second book. Bella has horrible self-confidence, and apparently can’t save herself! GRRRRRR! I wish people would write more books where GIRLS are their own heroes!

I hope that by next year people will snap out of the toxic trance ‘Twlight’ has cast on its victims. I’m not trying to be mean or anything, but can somebody give me 3 good reasons why so many people like it? If you like romance, ok, but this book is OVER DOING IT! I absolutely LOVE Pride & Prejudice and Sense & Sensebility, both by Jane Austen, because not all of the girls are mindlessly in love! Elizabeth, from Pride and Prejudice, has a good head on her shoulders, unlike Bella, who believes that her life circles Edward and Jacob. Really? Bella is unrealistic and unstable.

This book is so stupid, I could’nt finish it. The whole “Edward, make me bleeeeeed.” thing is ridiculous. If you want a better book, read Nightlight, the parody. That one is funny….

i suppose your claim is as valid as ours, but we are just trying to make people realize that twilight makes girls look weak, and since i’m a “hunter,” i’m all about girl power
if u need a new book, i LOVE the lord of the rings!!!! it’s really epic and great, and to please twilight fans, it also has a bit of romance. it’s also really amazing how ONE person made the beautiful world of MIddle earth. Eon is also good, as welll as the lost hero. i also thought the sisterhood of the traveling pants was a good book (for girls).

Artemis, the books definately are NOT a waste of time. When i was in 8th grade, we did a novel study on Twilight, and the book has a lot of the same qualities as classical literature. If you want, have your mom turn reading the book into your own personal novel study.

I think Twilight is okay. But if I had to pick a team it would be team bella or team jacob. I think Edward is kinda creepy in the movie but in harry potter….. well lets say he looked better in Harry Potter.

I am a girl.
I do not like Twilight.
The one thing good thing Stephenie Meyer did was “The Shorts Second Life of Bree Tanner,” except for the fact that I hate her for both killing off Bree and Diego in the most brutal way possible…grr!
Anyway, I don’t like Bella. I agree, she is entirely unstable and needs a therapist. I once read a comment that I totally agree with, somewhere else.
When Hermione’s true love left her, she helped Harry defeat the most dangerous wizard of all time.
When Bella’s true love left her, she curled up in a fetal position for four months and jumped off a cliff.
If anyone agrees with that, please tell me.

I love these Movies!!!!!! The Last one is About to Come Out she had the baby! I loved the part when she REFUSED to Kill the Baby!!! So I finally read Twilight, and it wasn’t that bad! It actually kept me interested. I don’t think Stephenie Meyer is a very talented author, but the plot is alright. I will read the sequel, and so on, until I start finding it stupid.
