Adam of the Road

BOOK NAME: Adam of the Road
AUTHOR: Elizabeth Janet Gray

Being a minstrel, Adam wanders the streets happily, doing cartwheels and bringing joy upon others. For years, Adam has done nothing but roam the streets with his red spaniel, Nick, and his minstrel father, Roger. When Adam’s father disappears and Nick gets stolen, Adam spends all his days looking for the two dearest things that belong to him. Roger and Nick.

I really enjoyed how the author described the scenery and how someone felt. I’d have to say my favorite character is Adam, the main character. The author just put so much personality into him. In this book, the “bad guy” was the man who stole Nick and I think I enjoyed having some amount of crime and mischief in the book.

Adam of the Road
was a book I read for school. It isn’t a book that I’d read out of interest, though. I wouldn’t say that is a good book or a bad book. The reading level was too easy for me and the story seemed to drag. I think that it’d be interesting for a child of a younger age, but not so much for me.

Yeah, I don’t know about this one. It seems like it might be one that has all those “hidden meanings”.
Could someone whose read it give it a rating? I need to be convinced…………….

That nook sounds sad although when you read that book review you just have to read it. I am not a great fan of sad books after I have just read one and it made me cry. :( But I think I s=would enjoy this one even if it is sad. I can’t wait to borrow it from the library!

This kind of reminds me of a book I had to read for school, Monkey Island. The book was a little like this one, and it wasn’t good or bad. Monkey Island was kind of morbid, though. An eleven year old kid’s mother disapears from this really bad apartment a few months after his dad disapears, so the kid goes out on the streets to prevent being taken by Social Services, thinking that if they did take him, he would never find his mom. It’s in sort of Great Depression times in New York, which is so not a tough time and place to live in. He is eventually reunited with his mom, but he doesn’t know if he can forgive her. I don’t think I would have read Monkey Island out of interest.

jindo2108, I think you should borrow it and just read a lil then you can see if you want to read the rest. I do that with all the books I’m unsure about and most of the time I get caught up in it and end up reading it all. Happy reading!

ngkid, ages 10 and up. It’s a pretty easy read! I had to read it for school and that’s the only reason I’m really reading it. It was a fast read too. I actually enjoyed it, though!

seabubbles, I think I’d give it an 8. I liked it but it wasn’t fantasy or anything that scares me so I didn’t favor it over the other books. If you wanna read something more suspenseful you should check out my review about “The Shepherd’s Quest”.

bearcatgirl, thanks! I’m glad you enjoy my reviews. I’ve slowed down and now I need to keep up with ‘em all. I’m posting 2 more real soon so keep in touch!

mossflower, that is exactly how I felt about this book! You nailed it, girl!

arianamus, you are correct. Sadly, they want you to read some books like that. They just really need some books that intertwine with history and unfortunately a lot of the authors don’t write very well. Some are very good, though! If you’d like to know the names of some, I’d gladly share a short book list!
