BOOK NAME: The Summer I Turned Pretty
AUTHOR: Jenny Han

Every year since Belly could remember she has always gone down to Cousins Beach each summer with her mother, her brother, her mother’s best friend and her two sons, Conrad and Jeremiah. Belly has always had a crush on Conrad, the older of the two brothers, but this summer is having second thoughts on Jeremiah. Unlike the rest of the summers this summer is different, everyone’s older and has changed. Belly got rid of her glasses and has matured a great amount since the last visit. Conrad, on the other hand, has made some mistakes that may cost him a lot. Jeremiah is still the same fun self he always was but acts different when he is around Belly. Belly has no clue what the end of this summer may bring but in the end it’s a summer she will never forget.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! I am in to chick flicks and chick lit lately and this one is at the top of my list! It is very girly and every time I read it, it reminds me of summer and I love that feeling. In about every other chapter there is a flashback to summers before that and it shows the whole story. Every time I opened it I could never put it down! I hope you get a chance to read this book because you will enjoy it very much. This series is going to become a trilogy.

Betcha anything you’re not the same age as the characters. Try reading books with characters closer to your age level; you’ll be able to connect with them more easily and therefore enjoy the book more. Just a thought.
Also, chick-flics (or whatever you called them) are poison for your mind. Go for sci-fi, classics, science journals… ANYTHING but chick-flics. Listen to my advice- you’ll thank me later.
Somehow, I get the feeling you won’t listen.
Anyways, your writing is on the right track, but you should spend more time polishing. Get some honest, intelligent friends to read you posts and openly critique them before you post. Read it aloud to yourself. These are all ways to ensure that your post will be interesting reader-grabbers.
    So…yeah.

Sorry Jordan………but yeah…………I don’t think I’ll read it. It’s just that I am like the exact opposite of loving chick literature…………and I’m not exactly the kind that loves lovey-dovey stuff……..
As for the review, Flamer, I have agree with Crocks04……………….. I thought the review was great!!!!!!!!! It took me a while to come to my self and realize I don’t like chic flicks ….
    Way to go Jordan!

Hmmmmm… Jenny Han? She sounds REALLY familiar…
THis book sounds dramatic, but the author is kind of starting to sound like she’s going along the lines of Twilight. See it now? Does our generation REALLY need any more books like Twilight?

That doesn’t really look like my kind of book. The girl on the cover looks like another girl I sort of know.

Flamer I sort of agree with you. I’ll read the book when I’m older, when I can relate to it more. I want to read it, but right now I’m probably not the age for it.

This is an amazing book for people for all ages. Even if you think you’re not old enough, give this book a chance. I’m not as old as Belly, but this is my favorite book. And it’s much deeper and more serious than any chick lit or summer book I’ve seen. The problems are real for any girl- friends, boys, partying, health problems, and family problems.
It always manages to bring me back to summer. :)

    Zoe,
This book isn’t anything like twilight, trust me. But I do agree with you when you say the world does not need another Twilight.

I was borrowing my friend’s kindle and there was the hunger games but she didn’t have the first one. There was also this one. Some parts of the book were gross. I think that a good age to read it is 13 or12. I made the mistake of reading it sooner.

This is probably one of the best books I have ever read. I recommend it to ANYONE. I read all three books and I didn’t want to put any of them down. I probably have read the first one (the summer I turned pretty) at least 3 times! I would read all of them again. All of my friends love the books and we all wish they would come out with a 4th one but it is a trilogy :( Hopefully they come out with a movie! :)

I love summer romance! I really wish I was like Belly! And to Flamer, it depends on your taste whether you like the book or not.
