BOOK NAME: Catching Fire
AUTHOR: Suzanne Collins

Have you read The Hunger Games? If you haven’t, read the review before reading this one, because this is the sequel.

Okay… now that you’re caught up, let me remind of what happened in the first book. Katniss and Peeta won the Hunger Games and went back to District 12. Now they live in Victors Village next to Haymitch who was their mentor during the Games. Because they won the Hunger Games, they’re going to be mentors for the next tributes from District 12.

The Quarter Quell is coming up. Every 25 years, they do something special to the games. The last Quarter Quell they doubled the amount of tributes from each district. And that was the year that District 12′s very own Haymitch won the games.

Katniss and her family sit down in front of their TV to see President Snow announce the Quarter Quell and he says that one male and one female of all of the surviving tributes from each district will go back into the games. Katniss is shocked because she’s the only female winner from her district and she’s going to have to go back to the games.

“Anger.” That’s what all the districts are feeling right now. They’re very angry at the Capital. The Capital isn’t treating them fairly. The Hunger Games are getting out of control, and there are too many deaths. The first uprising – a group of people going against the Capital-happens in District 8.

Katniss doesn’t know what’s going to happen at the end of these hunger games, and she also knows that things are growing out of control in the Districts.

Be sure and read the third book in the series, Mockingjay. It’s even more shocking than the first two! Thanks for reading the review. Until next time-which will probably be for Mockingjay. Bye!

Personally, I am astounded you read this Reed. My mom had to read this series before I read it, to see if it was okay for me. My mom let me read it since she considered it appropriate for me in 8th grade, but said point blank to my 11 year old brother that he was not allowed.

Anyone under 14 should have their parents look over this series before reading it. There may be some things that your parent would consider inappropriate for younger readers. This book is for young adults and I would advise everyone to follow the guidelines for this book series.

This is my favorite book in the series! And escape2books, I think this book is appropriate for 10 and up. There’s nothing innapropriate, and it might be brutal.. but it’s not really gory or anything.

This is a really good series! Team Peeta all the way!!!!! : D

I don’t think it was bad for a young person to read. It is very violent, but it doesn’t have any innapropriate scenes in it. I’d say it’s good for 5th grade and up.

For anyone wondering if they should read the Hunger Games trilogy, they are really good, wonderfully written, and very exciting. I’d definantly reccomend them. However, if you do not like sad endings, I would not reccomend them. The ending isn’t really really sad, but a lot of people die. If you are team Peeta, then you’ll love the ending. I’d give the books a try if I were you.

I half agree with other readers. I agree that at times is is a little too romantic for younger readers. But, if a 8 or 9 year old had the vocabulary for it I would let them read it.

All other things aside, this book was great! Even after I read the whole series I still can’t decide……… team Gale or team Peeta! Katniss and Gale have a history, but Katniss and Peeta…ugggg!… I’m still not sure!

My book share on Catching Fire
The 74th Hunger Games have just ended and things are really heating up in the districts. Katniss and Peeta have won and currently live in the victor’s village. Haymich their often drunk mentor lives next door. However, not every district is as happy as 12. An uprising in 8 with more to follow has gotten many people killed or worse. Every 25 years there is this thing called the Quarter Quell. The Quarter Quell is when the capitol does something special to the games. Haymich won on a Quarter Quell when the amount of tributes (players in the games) were doubled, so there were 24 tributes instead of 12. The 75th Quarter Quell is that the tributes from each district will be chosen from their remaining winners of the games. Katniss is outraged because usually when you win the games you are out of them for life, that is not so for these games. Katniss and Peeta get shipped to the capitol and are ready for the games, then they are shipped to the arena. This year it is a domed shaped arena with a huge jungle surrounding an beach. Katniss and Peeta and a few others manage to make it to the end when Katniss blew up the dome surrounding the arena, when the unthinkable happens. A hovercraft from district 13 rescues Katniss and Beetee and the rest are captured by the capitol. The most surprising part to me was that district 13 was not supposed to be alive after the capitol bombed it. However, district 13 being Nuclear development was ready and fled into their underground bunkers.
I think the author could not improve this book because I thought it was pretty AWESOME I mean the hovercrafts and underground bunkers are really cool. I would not recommend this book to most of my friends because some I don’t think are mature enough to read it right now.
