Thanks to everyone who submitted questions for actress Emily Blunt, one of the stars of the new movie Gulliver’s Travels. Emily answered your questions about the Lilliputians’ diet, her costar Jack Black, and what it was like to play a princess. Here’s what she had to say.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC KIDS: It looks like there are lots of special effects in this film (unless you’ve suddenly become six inches tall since your last movie role). What is it like acting in front of a green scene?
EMILY BLUNT: Sometimes it’s quite a challenge! You have to play a scene pretending Jack Black is a tennis ball on a crane–which is obviously quite hard. But it was fun!
NGK: Is Jack Black as funny in real life as he is in the movies?
EB: He’s hilarious! He has the best eyebrows in the business. He’s always goofing around.
NGK: Besides a toothbrush and your clothes, what’s the one travel accessory you can’t leave home without?
EB: My iPod. I’m really into the new album by the band The Black Keys.
NGK: Where’s the strangest place you’ve traveled while filming a movie?
EB: I would say Egypt. I went horseback riding in the desert and sailed down the Nile. It is one of my favorite places I’ve ever been to.
NGK: What do Lilliputians eat? Teeny tiny hot dogs and miniature grilled cheese sandwiches?
EB: They do once Gulliver comes into their world! Before that it was mini-roasted chickens and roasted potatoes.
NGK: What was it like playing the part of a princess in Gulliver’s Travels?
EB: So much fun! I really enjoyed being such a girly girl and I had the best costumes.
NGK: If you could visit one place in the world, where would it be and why?
EB: I would like to go to Cambodia and Vietnam. I’ve never been to that part of the world. I think the culture is fascinating.
NGK: The movie is based on the 1726 book Gulliver’s Travels, by Jonathan Swift. What was your favorite book as a kid?
EB: My favorite book as a kid was The Hobbit. I also loved Nancy Drew.
NGK: It must have been a blast working with funnymen Jason Segel and Jack Black. What’s the funniest thing that happened during filming?
EB: When we started up a singing troupe with Jack Black and Jason Segel playing ukuleles!
Can’t wait to see the movie? You don’t have to wait much longer. Gulliver’s Travels hits theaters on December 22. Plus, check out the December / January issue of National Geographic Kids (on newsstands now) to find out the movie magic behind making Gulliver a giant…and the Lilliputians so small, and read an interview with Jack Black.
