We all left the Annapurna with a bit of sorrow wishing we could have stayed longer, but we know Kathmandu will be another amazing adventure.
Our first stop was to an orphanage to drop off warm jackets for the children. During the summer I had a lemonade stand with my friend Olivia. The money we earned went towards the orphanage. The children have been through some pretty horrible things in their life so it was nice to give back and help them.
The next stop was the Briscoes’s, some friends of a friend that live in Kathmandu. They are a terrific family with two children, Minna and Theo. We had lots of fun together and learned what they think about living in Nepal. They treated us to a delicious Mexican dinner and some amazing homemade Oreo ice cream.
One night turned into two and we get to see Patan and Katmandu from a local’s point of view. The second night together we found some of the best pizza we had had since we left America. The next morning we had a sad good bye, but I think we will see them again somewhere around the world. Now it was time to head to our hotel, the Holy Himalaya, in Thamel, the center of craziness.
We spent our last few days here with the Walkers, some of our closest friends from Santa Barbara who also love to travel. Everest and I had loads of fun with Maddie, Finnegan and Ganden. We loved being together and did lots of cool things like climbing a 50 foot climbing wall, eating another yummy pizza and ice cream sundaes and getting a peacock henna on our hands.
Our month in Nepal went by so quickly, but now it is time for Sri Lanka. Everyone in my family wants to come back here again!
