On April 15, 1912, the ship R.M.S. Titanic hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean. The giant ship, said to be “unsinkable,” sank quicklyit disappeared beneath the waves less than three hours after hitting the iceberg. More than 1,500 people died in the disaster, with only 710 survivors. The location of the Titanic was a mystery until National Geographic Explorer Bob Ballard found the wreckage of the iconic ship in 1985.

Sunday, April 15 marks the 100th anniversary of the disaster. The National Geographic Museum is commemorating the event with the Titanic: 100 Year Obsession exhibit. The exhibit takes visitors through Titanic‘s history, from the construction of the ship to the latest findings at the wreck site.

The journey of Titanic was a tragic one & even today it evokes sadness & makes one feel the tragedy to have happened recently & not 100 years ago; thanks to the explorers who have brought Titanic back to life.

Did you know captain John Edward Smith was the most payed captain of his and sinking the titanic wasn’t his from Hanley, stoke-on-trent. same as Robbie Williams and Phil taylor.
P.S. it sank because it hit an iceburg early in the morning

Also, lifeboats tried to save passengers in the water, but they only saved 4. One died after he was pulled onto a lifeboat. And a surviving crewmate got frostbite on his feet.

The Titanic was an amazing ship. It also was the biggest ship of its time. The Titanic was 882 1/2 feet long. The Titanic is still an amazing ship. I hope Bob Ballard can help for the security of it. They are thinking about putting in a system.
