Getting Ready to Leave for Montana

The 2012 Hands-On Explorer Team is getting ready to leave for Montana! We’re almost done packing, and we have all received our itineraries and passports, so we’re just about ready to go. We’ve been getting to know each other by email, but we’re all excited to finally meet in person. We will all fly from our homes to Great Falls this Friday–that’s only three days away!

Each team member received an expedition backpack, water bottle, journal, Montana guidebook, DVD, and map. We have been practicing with our new Canon cameras, and we’re really excited about the great pictures we’ll be taking with them.

We plan to post blog entries every day with photos illustrating our adventures. Follow the blog to live the adventure with us!

    The itineraries are up! Not as good as last year, but still awesome. NGK:The next HOEC must be international because it is my last chance! XD

    Awesome guys! Have fun, can’t wait to follow your adventure from home. Remember to just soak in every moment and enjoy all the little things, from the bus rides to the amazing meals, and treasure the friendships you will build. Go explore!!     You are from the Austarlia trip, right? Which one were you so I can check out your essay… I’m trying to see what NG Kids are looking for in the essays. I think I have the perfect theme if they go to Madagascar. Nachos. So yeah.

    geckoexplorer- Glad you are enjoying commenting on this blog. No, i was on the Cayman trip. And it was so amazing, such a blessing.I recommend you just try your best and always do your best. Just go out and explore, you will be amazed what pops out at you and inspires you. Exploration is just listening and feeding the curiosity in all of us. And my essay was about a shore crab and my camera. Hope you get inspired.
    Hope all the winners for this year have an amazing time. Can’t wait to read your first entry later!

    For the 2011 trip did you guys win a Nikon D3100? Or was it an earlier version? I know 2012 winners got a Canon Rebel T3i, which I really want to get. And what about the Australia and Peru trips? Was it a Sony camera?

    Wow. I just realized one of this year’s winners (that is also a blog member) lives right near where I live! It says so in the NG Kids Magaizine! That is a really weir coincedence.

    That is my secon favorite essay from that trip! It probably won because it was so unique. They essay was directly related to the picture.

    Yes, for the 2011 trip we all received a Nikon D3100. Also, to answer Little Dragonfire’s question, only one of our parents got to accompany us on the trip.
