Frindle

BOOK NAME: Frindle
AUTHOR: Andrew Clements

frindlenew.jpgThis is a story about a boy that thought differently than everybody else.  He has good ideas in his head, but doesn't know where to put them.  His name is Nick Allen and this story is about how he changed the world.

Nick always wondered why things were called the words they were.  Like, why is a dog called a dog and why is a house called a house.  So, Nick decided change the name of thing that everyone uses everyday.  He decided to rename the word "pen" to the word "frindle".  He needed help from his friends to make the word popular so everybody would use it.  He used his new word in school, at home and when he went to the store.   All of his friends did the same thing.  Soon, even the clerk at the store knew what frindle meant. When they came into the store and asked for a frindle, she would ask them "Do you want blue ink or black ink?"

Everybody seemed to like his new word, except for his Language Arts teacher, Mrs. Granger.  She even punished everyone who used the word by keeping them after school.  But he stuck to his plan and even had some fun at Mrs. Granger's expense.

I really liked this book because it shows how even little kids can change things if they come up with an idea, stick with it and don't let people tell them what they can't do.

When I began reading your review I had a small grin on my face and when I finished your review, I had a large smile. FRINDLE sounds like a very funny and original book and your review made the book sound AMAZING! I hope you write more reviews because that was a REALLY good review on a book.

It sounds like a very unique, interesting, one of a kind book, I'm going to read it as soon as possible!!!
SINCERELY, tiedyegirl

I read this book in my class. When we finished reading it, we got this crazy idea to call a pen a frindle we haven't done it yet, though.

the book is really good. I'm gonna convince all my friends to call a pen frindle now!:-)

I love the word frindle and I think people should use way(!!!!!!!!!!!) more often!!!!

I REALLY liked this book a lot. I have actually read all of the books at my library by Andrew Clements, but this one is my favorite.

Oh my gosh, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Andrew Clements books! This was definitely one of the best. And yes, spock9, I have heard of Mythbusters. They're awesome! There was a really cool one where they tried to find out if sticking a dagger into a sail and riding down would work, and they decided it would probably kill you, break your ankles, or send you flying through the air.

Spock9 I've heard of mythbusters and seen it. Said, you can see it on youtube.

I LOVED this book, reading it was a laugh and I was simply furious about how the school tried to put him down. It was amazing, I want to read it again and again.

In 2nd grade our teacher read us this book and I loved it.

I read it in fourth grade with my class. It was a realy good book. We noticed that if you look at it it looks like the pen is sticking up!

i loved this book! it was sooo funny. the frindle started
out so small the the whole world was useing it
bye

really good book

I have read Frindle. I love how the boy calls a pen a frindle! The end is neat, too!

I've read this book and It's really funny, but I think the teachers and the princabel are being a bit dumb. Why ban a perfectly good word from the school? Some other Andrew Clemets books that are good are Lunch Money, Lost and Found, Things Not Seen, and Things Hoped For. If you like this one, then you should check those out too!

Frindle was one of the first books I have read. This book drew me into the world of Andrew Clements which urged me to read other books by him.I do recommend 'The Report Card'(also by Andrew Clements).

Same thing that everybody else is saying and I have the same question as missm26

i read the book 2 years ago in 4th grade and liked the book, funny and a pretty good read. it got annoying when people started trying to make up words, though. i mean no offense 2 any one who did that, its just that my classes took it WAY out of hand.:(

I liked this book.(But then again I like almost every book!)I recommend it if your 8-10.

great book...i loved it!
question... can i post a book? i've almost read the whole library.
