BOOK NAME: Dragon Rider
AUTHOR: Cornelia Funke
This is my favorite book of all time so far in my life. As you might guess from the title, this book follows a dragon named Firedrake, Ben the dragon rider and Sorrel, who is a cat-like creature (called a "brownie") that can talk with both humans and dragons, on a mission to save their kind.
The adventure starts in the Mythical Valley of Dragons. A rat comes to warn the dragons that humans are coming to flood the valley. Sorrel and Firedrake must go to New York City to find a map that will safely lead them to their destination. In New York, they meet Ben who is an orphan boy living in an old warehouse along the river. They meet Ben by using his warehouse for a rest place for a day. Ben convinces Sorrel to let him go along on their mission.
They have all kinds of problems along the way. They land in Europe and come across Nettlebrand, a dragon hunter. Then the chase begins. Ben, Firedrake and Sorrel now not only have to complete their dangerous journey, they have to defeat Nettlebrand as well. They will need all of the tools and tricks they have plus help from a few others along the way.
This book is full of adventure, mystery and learning to find out who you are as a creature and what you find valuable. I think anybody who likes adventure, especially if you have ever wondered what it would be like to ride on the back of dragon in the light of the moon should read this book.

It sounds Ok. I probably won't read it, but I highly reccomend Her other book Inkheart! That is such a good book! She also has the sequels: Inkspell, and Inkdeath.
My friend read it and said to read it. I haven't yet, but I might. I've read Inkheart and reading Inkspell. I can't wait to read Inkdeath!!!!!
Spock9, did they swear alot in Inkheart? I heard they did.
No theay didn't but I highly recomend you to watch the movies.
I don't wanna watch the movies!
No, I can't remember if they did. Hey, I watched the Twilight movie today. It was AMAZING!!! :)
She also has a book called, "When Santa fell to Earth". It was a sweet book. I read too much. My teacher's even agree! They say they don't have enough books for me! My math teacher says I've read all the books on her shelf. No, I haven't. Yet. ;)
Say...u guys,where the hell do i get Inkheart ?
I love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love this book. IT'S AWSOME. I also have a list of books by this author that I LOVE.
THE BEST-
Inkheart series-
(all three)
Inkheart
Inkspell
Inkdeath
Summary-
When Magie and Moe read aloud the characters come to life! But when they read from the wrong book they have the adventure of a life time (I am sorry but the actual book is MUCH more intense then my three sentance review.
The other awsome ones-
Igraine the Brave
The Theif lord(It's incrdible read the book, see the movie)
I have this book and lets say.. no I admit I have read it 20 times. NOT kidding. I really liked it. I have never read Inkheart.
O.K. I totally agree with everyone who said Cornelia Funke was a good author. She's really great! She also wrote The Thief Lord, which is a really great book!Woops I just realized someone else just said that. Oh, and spock9: My teachers say they're running out of books for me, too! Hey, greg999: watch your tongue!
I really love that book and the author. The way Cornelia writes tells you exactly what you need to know. I totally love her other books , like Inkheart.
i've read Inkheart, Inkspell and Inkdeath in the Inkheart trilogy, though I do think it's a bit sick with the kissing between Meggie and Farid - they even talk about marrying even though they're only twelve! I would recommend you rather reading The Thieflord, since I think it's a bit better than Inkheart.
Greg999, you can get it at any book store. I even saw it at a Sam's club! Hooter, I've read The Thief Lord, and it was really good. I like how it took place in Venice, Italy. I have it on my bookshelf in my bedroom! It was good. Oh, by the way greg999, the Inkheart movie is coming out soon. It looks AMAZING!!!! I think my mom's going to take me to see it when it comes out. That's it. Bye, y'all!
I love Cornilia Funke's books have you read inkheart, inkspell, or inkdeath
The Inkheart movie leaves ALL the important stuff out, skipped around, and COMPLETELY changed the end, if you are interested in inkheart, READ THE BOOK FIRST!
Oh Cornilia Funke is Amazing! I agree, and I have The Thief Lord but have not read it, can someone comment a review on it for me so I can get an Idea ( Please don't give away the book ) I also have Dragon Rider ( Also haven't read that one ) But have read Igrane the brave and Ink haert, inkspell and am in the middle of Inkdeath! Oh and missm26 its MEGGIE not MAGIE! Spock9, I am italian so I def. Have to read the theif lord! ( I don't live in Italy, I'm half italian ) But all fantasy books are genius, exept Eragon, in Eragon you can't even understan the first letter!
What first) letter in Eragon? I have read Inkheart, Inkspell, The Princess Knight, The Theif Lord and Igrine the brave. I can't wait to read Inkdeath but I have to finish Tunnels first!! I have Inkheart, Inkspell, Inkdeath, Gostbusters #2 and Dragon Rider. I haven't read Gostbusters #2 or Dragon Rider. I heard that she wrote a book called Hands of Mississippi but that one wasn't translated into english. There was a movie made out of Hands of Mississippi in english. The movie Inkheart wasn't that good, my dad thought it was good but he hasn't read the books.
I think it was very good, although the beginning was somewhat boring.
Cool! I would really enjoy it, since I really like mythical stories and high-flying dragons.
I'm writing a book called 'The Dragon Rider!
I read Inkheart,Inkspell, and Inkdeath! They do have a little bit of swearing witch increases towards the end.I love them sooooo much!I am defiantly going to read this one.
P.S.
At first I pronounced Cornelia Funke,Cornelia Funky!
Its a good book. Also Inkheart, Inkspell, and The Thief Lord
i checked this book out from the library once, 'cause i liked Cornelia F.'s other books, the Inkheart series. but halfway through it, it got kinda boring and childish. i didn't finish it.
i bought that book a while ago from Waterstones, but i haven't read it. i think it looks a bit like Eragon, by Chris Paolini, except more gentle.
Hey!!..uuhhmm..I;m still reading this book..I think its kinda boring..>??<..I'm from the Philippines..=)..I'm actually in page 74..haha!!..I dont have timeto read it because the stdies here are so serious and if you fail just ONE quiz..you'll not pass..=(..well its something you have to deal with..WELL , THANKS TO YOU , I'M NOW READING AGAIN THIS BOOK .. =)
