Double Identity

BOOK NAME: Double Identity
AUTHOR: Margaret Peterson-Haddix

Double Identity Book Cover    This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it. It's a mystery that has lots of secrets. Bethany is the main character of the book. She is a normal 13 year old with a normal life until one night her parents drive her to another state to stay with an aunt and cousin she never knew she had. Her parents made sure she was OK, and left. She wouldn't see them again for several months.

Her dad calls every so often to check on Bethany and talk to her aunt. He seems to be running away from somebody, but Bethany doesn't know who. While she is staying with her aunt, some strange things happen. The people from the town act very weird as if they have seen a ghost. She gets a package containing lots of money and four different birth certificates. She also finds a bunch of home videos of her mom and dad and a little girl who looks exactly like her, but was born several years earlier. And then, her aunt and cousin tell her who she really is.

The reason that her parents have left her is that she must be protected at all costs. The people looking for her would surely find her if she had stayed with them. Once the secrets come out, she realizes there is no one in the world like her.

There are lots of secrets and twists in this book.  It is really fun to piece together the details of this book and see if you can guess the real story of Bethany...if that is her real name!

I absolutely LOVED that book! I really loved the ending. I can't tell you about it, though. I read alot. This book was AMAZING!!!! Margaret Peterson Haddix is one of my favorite authors. I got another book by her yesterday, called "Found" . It's about a plane that crashes, and it's only filled with BABIES!!!! It takes place thirteen years later. I haven't read it yet. I got it at my school book fair and my mom's giving it to me for my birthday. Anyway, Double Identity is really good. I would recomend it to anyone! :)

HiHannah,
sounds like a interesting book.

I liked how they call this website Dogeared book blog. I did with this website and with my books. :) It's a bad habit! :)

I'm not going to tell you the best part EVER!!!! It's really cool, but I'm not going to tell you. Sorry! :)

The coolest part is sort of scientific. ;)

I thought that was a WICKED book.I liked it But it wasnt as good as Maximum Ride By: James Patterson. Anyway it was still AWESOMELY WICKED!! thanks tons 4 posting!! Huggles & loveness Katy

It is really cool. I can't wait to read found by her.

i read this book a couple of months ago and loved it. i think it is a great book with lots of mystery and secrets. i have read other books by this author including "Among The Hidden" and "Ella". i recemend reading these books soon. i can't wait to read Found by her and i have it on hold at my local library.

I read Found and it was AWESOME!!!!!!! Y'all should read it.

If you like Margaret Peterson Haddix, you should read some books by Joan Lowry Nixon. I've only read two of them, though. The Kidnapping of Christina Lattimore, and The Face on the Milk Carton, whish is a sequel. My science teacher told me about her and gave me The Face on the Milk Carton. She's an amazing author, and has written numerous books. Two more books by her are The Seance and A Deadly Game of Magic. I haven't read those yet, though. Anyway, y'all should try at least one of the books by her. See y'all later!

Once again, spock9 is right. I didn't know The Face on the Milk Carton was a sequel, though. Margaret Peterson Haddix is an INSANELY AWESOME author! I like how spock9 keeps us filled in. That takes dedication. oh btw spock9 I'm probably creeping you out but you just keep taking the words out of my mouth, so I just agree with you.

You too musemagfan13! You're like a friend!

I visit this site at LEAST once or twice a day. Before and after school. You're cool, musemagfan13. Do you get National Geographic kids magazine? It's AWESOME!!! Btw musemagfan13, the reason I come here a lot is I love to read. The reason I like this post is it is one of my favorite books. Have you read Twilight? It's amazing!

Hey! I absolutely loved this book! Margaret Peterson Haddix is my favorite author!!!! If you like this book and author, I'd recommend reading Turnabout and The House on the Gulf (which i am in the middle of reading right now. I just got to the AMAZING part)........... If you have the same taste in books as me, I'd also recommend reading the City of Ember series by Jeanne DePrau. I am gonna read Found as soon as i finish the book im reading now....... If you couldn't tell, I LOVE TO READ! BIBLIOPHILE! My favorite books are science fiction/mystery, and even though this isn't under that category, my favorite book i have EVER read in the whole world was Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life, by Wendy Mass...... it has a lot of twists, but you have to keep reading because the last two chapters are the best part!!!!!!!

OMG!!!! I loved this book soooooo much, even though I read it like 2 years ago I still remember reading it and the suspence I felt! I think this is the best book ever written by Margeret Peterson-Haddix yet!!!! It's really good!!!!!!

I loved City of Ember, People of Sparks, and the Prophet of Yonwood. They were really good. Dolphinlover2208, Found is and awesome book. I got it for my birthday. Margaret Peterson Haddix RULES!!

Have you heard of the new Margaret Peterson Haddix book called The Palace of Mirrors. It sounds awesome. I might get it, because she's an AMAZING author.

I totally agree, Spock9! I'm in the middle of Found right now, and it is already (probably) THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ! Margaret Peterson Haddix DOES RULE!!!

I read Found and it's AWESOME!!!! I have to agree. Margaret Peterson Haddix ROCKS!!!!!!!!!! SHE IS AMAZING!!!!

This book is sooo good!! I really liked when she found out she was a c oops! spock9, have you read the Inheritance books (Eragon Eldest Brisingr)? Are the Twilight books good, what are they about?

I love the ending of Found. It is AMAZING!!!!!

What a twisted book! I read it twice for the shock of it, I mean. isn't just so unlikley? I think it was alomst scary. Cloning? And poor Bethany- she probably feels like she's not a real person at all, or he feels colder toward her dad. It's a little depressing sometimes, too.

I think cloning is really cool. It's sorta weird, but really cool. I probably would feel a little weird if I were a clone, though, so I sort of agree with natgeo_reader1. I 50% feel it's cool and 50% think it's a little weird. Still, you have to admit, it's pretty cool! :)

Is James Patterson a good author?

My mistake, The Face on the Milk carton isn't a sequel, it HAS a sequel.

I haven't read Face on the Milk Carton, though I can remember seeing it on a schoolastic bookfair flyer somewhere. Is it any good? Because it sure does sound good, quite original, you know?

Yeah, it's really, really good. I haven't read the sequel yet, though.

i really enjoyed this book... i hope she will make a sequel

This is an awesome book..a friends reccomened it to me and i really think someone who loes a good mystery book should definely read this !!!

I REALLY want to read this book. Margaret Peterson Haddix is one of my favorite authors. My favorite book she ever wrote is Found Does it have a sequel? Ifit doesn't she should make one. I'm reading Inkheart by Cornelia Funke right now. I love it so far.

Hey, I read the reviews so I decided to read it! and I ....... Loved It!!

don't read this book. it's creepy and a big letdown. i don't agree with the ending. it's downright FREAKY!

runningoutoftime, why do you think 4 clones are freaky????????????????????????????

I like it at the middle and beginning. But you can totally tell someone was a little girl before her in their family. I hate the last chapter. It is sssooo boring.

I read the sequel to Face on the Milk Carton, which is called What Happened to Janie. It's really surprising. I love it though.

Sorry Resa. I haven't been on lately. Here's your answer. The Twilight books are amazing. It's about a girl named Bella Swan. She goes to Forks, WA to live with her dad Charlie. When She goes to school, she meets Edward Cullen, the most amazing boy ever. That's as much as I'll tell you.

I just finished reading Margaret Peterson Haddix's Runnnig Out of Time, and LOVED it!!!!! I'm going to read this book, it looks SO awesome. She's now one of favorite authors. I planing on reading Found also. I luv2read!

WOW! this sounds GREAT!! I will read it!!

the ember books are awesome,spock9. ok, read this book and loved it so much! i thought it was cool that Bethany ended up a clone of her dead sister.(oops!!!!! hope i did'nt ruin the ending 4 anyone!!!:0) and people!!!! get over twilight!!! its just a series! and thats so not what real love is like anyway!!!

I'll look for that next time I go to the library! I've read an M.P. Haddix book and that was good, but this one sounds even better!

M.P.H is one of my favorite authors ever! I like all of her books but Found.

This sounds like a good book,I think I'll buy it.

ckd1998,are the 2nd,3rd and 4th Ember books as good as the first?I read the first book today and loved it!
