Millicent Min, Girl Genius

BOOK NAME: Millicent Min, Girl Genius
AUTHOR:

Thumbnail image for Millicent Min Girl Genius book coverMillicent Min, Girl Genius is one of my favorite books that I have ever read. The story is about a girl named Millicent Min who is a super smart 11 year-old. She is so intelligent that she skipped grades all the way up to her senior year in high school.  Millicent doesn't have very many friends until a new girl comes into town; her name is Emily Ebers. Emily and Millicent meet when both of them have been forced into volleyball by their moms. They aren't very good so they decide to hang out.

Millicent ends up tutoring basketball star, Stanford Wong who is not very smart with a report card full of "F"'s. Millicent doesn't want Emily, her only friend, to think that she is geeky-smart, and Stanford, who has a major crush on Emily, doesn't want her to think that he is dumb. So they agree not to tell Emily, but she finds out anyway. Millicent and Stanford think fast by saying that Stanford is tutoring Millicent instead! Will both Stanford and Millicent be able to face Emily with the truth, or will Emily find out the truth first?
I loved reading this book. What I liked about it was that the story moved fast - it wasn't boring! The cool part of the book is that its' sequels are from Emily and Stanford's point of view at the same exact time period. I read the So Totally Emily Eber's book a while ago and am planning to read Stanford Wong Flunks Big-Time very soon.
I suggest this to all you readers who like books that are almost like a real teenage life. It's also more of an older kid's book. PLEASE read this book and I promise you that you will like it. Then put a comment of something that has happened in your life that is kind of similar to something that happened in the books.

This sounds a little like me! LOL. I'm one of, if not the, smartest girls in class. I'm second smartest in 5th grade. :)

This is jeast like me too, exept for I am not in Hight School.

PEACA OUT!!!!!!!!!!

I probably should be in GT, or at least skipping a grade. I wouldn't be surprised if I did. My mom thinks I should, too.

That sounds just like me!!! I'm in GT and might be skipping a grade!! I'm definetly going to read this book!!!

I should read the sequals!!!!!!

i think that will be a book worth reading.thanks for telling us about it!

There isn't a GT program at my school. It's a private school and it's supposed to be harder. They don't have people skip grades, either. I probably would have to, but the kids in the grade above me don't like me because I yelled at them for stepping on worms one time. Tee hee! Not a good idea, in case you wanted to try it. But I digress. I keep meaning to read this book, and I have it, but I keep forgetting to read it! By the way, if you liked this, and you have not read the Artemis Fowl books by Eoin Colfer, I have no choice but to feel bad for you. They're the greatest books EVER!!!!

I'll have to "think" about this one

I'll bet my teachers think I should skip a grade, too.

Whoa! Sounds cool! Looks like I have a new book that I'll be reading every night before I go to bed!

wow! that sounds really good. i'd love to read it. the only problem is finding a book store with that book but still, i'll get my hands on it and soon tell you how i felt about the book.
i'd love to see how Millicent and Stanfordn are going to get out of that lie... and of course Emily's reactions...

Oh my gosh, I just finshed this book and it's GREAT!!!! I think it's so funy that Stanford said he was tutoring Millicent and she had alrady sworn to not tell the truth!! Digger is a despicable character, isn't he?

I'm the one smartest kids in the fourth grade and I probably would still be if I skipped a grade.

This sounds so fun to read!lol

Sounds good, a week after this got posted it was on top of the shelf at the library (thats where "you should read this" books go). I have been meaning to read it ever since.

reading it now. Awesome so far. most likely will be done this weekend.

Ugh...I am SUCH a dummy in math...I'm in fifth grade and still learning how to do long division. It's SCARY. My school is a private school 2, no gt, but i hafta say, one of my teaches told me i nedded totouring! It was scary!

My friend in my class did a book report presentation on this book and I gotta read it! It sounds so interesting. It's in my class library, too. But we gotta finish Historical Fiction first.

I'm one of the smartest kids in my grade. Sometimes it can be annoying because some kids don't like smart people. It's kind of like what Millicent did in that book when she lied about being smart.

Im in GT and everyone calls me and my classmates nerds. its annoying and i feel like Millicent Min.

I love this book!!!!!

I'm an only child that's home-schooled, so I'm the smartest and least smartest kid in the class since i'm the only one in it!!! (does that make sense??)

BTW, has any one read the other two that go along w/ this book??? you don't have to read them in any particular order either!!

Dear Blog Readers,

I know from experience abotu being in GT. It is definitly harder but they only put you in there if you are ready for a challenge. And let me tell you one thing, it is almost impossible to skip a grade unless you are like as smart as Millicent. If you like this book then maybe you should read the sequals. They were great too!!! See you next time!

JORDAN

I'm in the smartest groups, and I am the youngest! I am NOT in high school.

That sounds like a really good book! But how many grades did Millicent skip anyways?

I REALLY WANT TO READ THIS BOOK!!! this sounds like a book that me and my friends would probably read. Where did you get it?

Wow, I can really relate to this book! I'm in the gifted students program and the advanced math program at my school. So Totally Emily Ebers was a great book also :)

I can relate to this i am in atvanced math not that good that i can skip so many grades right. I really wish the people at my school let us pick our book i would of pickedf this one.
