Stone Rabbit

Stone Rabbit: BC Mambo coverBOOK NAME: Stone Rabbit series
AUTHOR: Erik Craddock

I'm going to write about three books in the Stone Rabbit series. The first one is called BC Mambo. The second one is Pirate Palooza. The third one is called Deep Space Disco. There's only five books out, but I'm only going to write about three, because I only have three. I want to get the other ones because those look cool.

These books are action kids' books. Each is like a comic book, with a lot of words like "poof", "pow" and that kind of stuff.

BC Mambo is about Stone Rabbit finding a giant hole in his bathroom and falls through it and lands in dinosaur eggs. Stone Rabbit runs into a lot of dinosaurs until he finally gets out of that world.

In Pirate Palooza, Stone Rabbit finds a leg for a table that he broke, but he doesn't know it's a pirate's wooden leg. He has to fight a lot of pirates and he eventually saves the pirates from getting attacked by this other ship.

In Deep Space Disco, he goes into this restaurant and gets sucked into a spaceship, so then he's an astronaut. He and his friend save the world.

I like these books because there's a lot of action and they're funny. I think these books are good for kids in first and second grade.

Brady Brady and the Great Rink

Brady Brady and the Great Rink coverBOOK NAME: Brady Brady and the Great Rink
AUTHOR: Mary Shaw and Chuck Temple

Brady Brady and the Great Rink is a book about a hockey player named Brady Brady. His name's not actually Brady Brady. His name is Brady, but he never listens to anyone because he's always thinking about hockey. So they call him Brady Brady because they're trying to get his attention: "Brady BRADY!"

His championship game is coming up. And at his rink the lights go out and there's no power. So Brady Brady makes a rink in his back yard. It takes him a long time to make it. After he makes the rink, he plays hockey with his dog. He gets out pucks and a net and his dog plays goalie. The dog's name is Hat Trick.

The championship game was the coolest hockey game ever played. People in his town came from all over town. And nobody even care about the score!

I play hockey, but I've only played one season. I really like this book because they play hockey.

Mummies

MummiesBOOK NAME: Mummies (National Geographic Kids)
AUTHOR:  Elizabeth Carney

Mummies is about how mummies are made, and some famous mummies and different kinds of mummies. If a person is buried in a bog, they will be protected and can turn into a mummy. A mummy's hair color can even stay if it's buried in a bog.

Other mummies are wrapped in linen. It's a special kind of cloth. They put them in a giant box called a sarcophagus. They stay in there for a long long time. You can find them in deserts, caves and other places. But you mostly see them unburied in museums like in Washington, D.C.

Two hikers found a very famous mummy named Otzi. Scientists found an arrow in his back and they think that's how he died 5,300 years ago.

The book also tells you how Egyptians made mummies:
1. You take out the organs.
2. You take out the brain with a long hook and stick it up his nose and pull his brain out of his nose.
3. You wash his body and put salt on him.
4. You let him dry for 40 days.
5. You rub special oil on the body.
6.You wrap him up with linen and then put him in the sarcophagus.

In 1922, King Tut was found in a cave. He was 15 years old when he died and he was a king 3,300 years ago. Sometimes they find special gold and money where mummies were buried. You can see King Tut in his cave where he was found.

There can also be animal mummies. There can be dogs, cats, monkeys and even crocodile mummies!

I liked this book a lot. It was a really good book for my age.

Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen: The Last Prime

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: The Last PrimeBOOK NAME: Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen: The Last Prime
ADAPTED BY: Tracey West

This is a book called Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen: The Last Prime. I wanted to read it because it looked very cool and it's from the second movie of the Transformer movie series.

In the story, Sam's going to college and trying to forget about the Transformers. His girlfriend visits him in college and brings a metal box, and in the box is a little transformer called Wheels. Sam is with a pretty girl and then she wraps her metal tongue around Sams' neck. She's actually a Decepticon, but Sam didn't know that!

In a different part, Megatron comes back alive but he can turn into a different vehicle. He and Optimus Prime get into a battle. Optimus tries to hit Megatron with a missile, but he misses. Megatron hits Optimus Prime with a missile and he gets very damaged.

There's some new Transformers called The Twins. They transform into an ice cream truck.

You can find out the rest of the story if you buy the book.

Lunch Lady and the Cyborg Substitute

Lunch Lady and the Cyborg SubstituteBOOK NAME: Lunch Lady and the Cyborg Substitute
AUTHOR:
Jarret J. Krosoczka

This is a book called Lunch Lady and the Cyborg Substitute. It's about a lunch lady who's a secret fighter and about some kids who are trying to figure what she does. It's book #1 and that means there's going to be more. And I like it so I really want to get #2.

The Lunch Lady is trying to find out the secret of Mr. Pasteur who is a half-human, half-robot substitute teacher.

The Lunch Lady has a secret lab and her helper makes her cool stuff like a cool scooter that can spill sloppy joes that can stop cars. She also made a spatula called the Spatu-Copter that spins around and can make the Lunch Lady fly. She also made her suction cups so she could walk on the ceiling and a secret mole that's a walkie-talkie thing.

The book was really good and really funny and really cool. This style book is like a comic book with lots of fighting and pictures and words.

Dinosaur Combat

Dinosaur CombatBOOK NAME: Dinosaur Combat
AUTHOR: Rupert Matthews

Hi, I'm Braden and I'm going to tell you about a book about dinosaurs. It's about how they protect themselves, what's inside their bodies, and stuff like that.

Some dinosaurs are really really big like Brachiosaurus and some are smaller like Ceratosuarus. But Ceratosaurus likes to eat Brachiosaurus, so they grab the baby ones so they can eat them. Their teeth are curved backwards, so when the baby Brachiosaurus tries to get away, the teeth dig deeper into their skin. Brachiosaurus has a big bump on its head which is really its nose. These two dinosaurs lived in Wyoming in North America and they lived about 150 million years ago.

The Pinacosaurus has plates on its back to protect itself and a huge like-a-bowling ball on its tale to attack dinosaurs like Tarbosaurus. The plates will protect its back in case a dinosaur tries to eat it. These dinosaurs lived in Asia about 80 million years ago.

Tyrannosaurs Rex's like to eat Triceratops. So Triceratops has really sharp horns near their nose. So when the Tyrannosaurs tried to attack, he would try to attack Triceratops' back with its teeth. But Triceratops would try to get his sharp horns in the Tyrannosaurs' neck or belly. So then if the Tyrannosaurus would start bleeding, the Triceratops would have time to get away.

I like this book because it's about dinosaurs and I'm going to be a Paleontologist when I grow up. It also has a lot of fighting and cool pictures and drawings.
