And We're Off ...

So we've been on the road now for one week, started off with a five-hour car trip to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It was nice to start there because we go there every year and it is one of my favorite places in the world. Because we have been there many times before, we didn't feel like we had to do everything, and that was a good way to calm down after the stress of all the packing we had to do to get ready for the trip.

If I were to tell you about every little part of each day we spent this week, it would take hours, so I'll just tell you some of the highlights of the trip so far. On the second day we went to the Wellfleet Drive-In movie theatre, which is one of the few left in the U.S. We saw the movie, Wall-E.

The next day we went to Provincetown to rent bikes, but both places we went to were sold out for the day, so we decided to go to the beach instead. Stefan and I made a throne room out of sand and filled it with booby traps and called it the "Temple of Doom." We worked on it for hours. Before leaving on our last day, we went to the Highland Light, which is my favorite light house in the world ... so far.

Take a look at this picture of a storm cloud in Provincetown!

Then we drove up to Maine. We are staying in a little cottage near Acadia National Park. We went to the park and we all loved it the second we got here. In fact, Stefan loved it so much he even said, "I wish we weren't going around the world and could stay here." The first day we got to rent bikes and went on a 10-mile loop around the park. We also went on a hike on Cadillac Mountain, the highest summit on the eastern coastline of the U.S. Yesterday; we visited a place called the Oceanarium which has a lobster museum/hatchery. We saw baby lobsters almost as small as the period at the end of this sentence.

This is a picture of me on Cadillac Mountain:

Hey Tyler,
I can't believe that there is a drive-in movie theater, and ''Wall-e'' seems like a really great movie. Can't wait to meet you,Stefan, your mom and dad,Owen,Tess and their mom and dad in............AFRICA! You have to tell me about all the trips you've been on especially Hawaii!

From,
Taylor

Dear cousin,
Maine must be a pretty cool place if Stefan said he wished he weren't going around the world but could just stay there. I went to Maine a few years ago and loved eating lobster.
I'm really glad you have photos posted because I love seeing where you've been. The picture of you on the Mountain - you look very high up!

Dear Stefan and Tyler,

Guess what!? I am about to start traveling around the world for the year with my parents and my little sister, Tallulah, just like you! Tallulah is only 3.

We also sold our house and did a test drive trip to Ireland and London in June. I am interviewing a kid my age every where we go and met a really nice boy in Connemara, Ireland. I interviewed my friend Jake in London. My parents are also home schooling me and my sister, but she can't even read yet!

We have been in the Catskills all of July to plan our trip and we leave next week! First stop, like you, Maine to see my cousins then we are off to Spain, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Japan, Nepal, India, and then to South Africa for Christmas. I was born there and we spend every Christmas there anyway, so it will be a little like home.

Anyway, I am really glad to hear about you and your trip because some kids still don't believe that I am doing this and I am still sad to leave my house and school, which I loved.
