I did some snorkeling in Maui and it was really fun. On our first stop, I actually got to see a sea turtle up close. Then, on our second stop, I saw so many cool fish, all different sizes and colors. On our last stop, we went to a broken-down pier that was like visiting a shipwreck. I saw these huge trumpet fish with Tyler. My favorite part was swimming with the sea turtle.
Our hotel had an enormous pool that was in an area the size of three football fields. It had a water slide that we went down a lot. The pool area also had a swim-through cave with a waterfall and a pirate ship. We spent a lot of time playing in the pool with our friends.
The highlight of the trip to Hawaii was learning how to surf. I did great on my first try! I caught so many waves!
After that,
we went to a garden with lots of birds, beautiful trees and flowers. We
saw "Bob
the Bird Man" who had parrots that placed on us. I got my
picture taken while holding them (click here to see a picture of Tyler and the birds). They weighed a lot and tickled.
Another fun stop was the black sand beach. The sand really was pure
black. Plus, there was great body surfing. We even got a chance to walk
through and explore a cool lava tube. When we were in Honolulu, we went to Pearl Harbor, which is where Japan attacked the U.S. battleships and caused the U.S. to join World War II. They made a memorial for those who died during the attack on the USS Arizona (one of the ships that sunk during the attack). While we were at the memorial, we saw a rainbow. Speaking of rainbows, they are the symbol of Hawaii. Rainbows are even on Hawaii's license plate. We saw lots of rainbows while we were there. I loved Hawaii!

Hi Stefan -
Are you excited about going to China? - Oliver (Benny's brother)
Are you having a nice time going around the world? I hope you learn how to surf. Maybe we can see you some time? Do you know when you'll be in Europe? Maybe we can surf together. Benny - (from Ms. Schumacher's class)
How's your summer, going around the world? Hope you take lots of cool pictures and have fun traveling around the world! Georgia - (from Mrs. Pregiato's class)

I really liked to see you surfing. It looked fun but a little scary to me.

Hi Stefan!
Hawaii looks amazing! You are having the trip of a lifetime! School started last week. Remember us? We MISS YOU! I have a really great class this year. I can't wait to go into the computer lab, where we will all log on to your site! Hopefully everyone can leave you a message!
Please say hi to your family for me. I can't wait to read all about your adventures in China. When I was watching the Olympics, I saw that people eat mealworms as a delicacy in China. They even eat scorpions on a stick. Do you think you will do that? (How about if you cover it in your favorite food...cheese!)
玩得开心 I looked up some Chinese for you. That one means, "Have fun!"
Love, Mrs. Schumacher
