Jeans Total Tops 20,000!

With only two weeks left in our Guinness World Record attempt to collect the largest amount of clothing for recycling, we have amassed an amazing pile of denim. Our latest count is 20,443!

This is more than a new record attempt--it's also part of the COTTON. FROM BLUE TO GREEN.®. project to recycle denim into insulation for homes damaged in storms.

Look for over 200 pair of denim to add to the count. I am about to ship off nearly 300 pair contributed by students at Weddington High School in Weddington, NC. I am a science teacher at the school and this was part of our Earth Day activities!!

Great Seneca Creek Elementary in Germantown, MD held a drive and sent them in on Monday! We collected 740 pairs of jeans!!!!!! We hope to try for 1,000 next year! GO BULLFROGS!I am a PTA member that coordinated and ran the drive!

The wonderful associates at ADP have donated over 300 jeans, they are on their way!

The 10U Emeralds softball team from Berkley, Massachusetts just sent in more than 125 pieces of denim!

I loved this project! I was able to collect and ship 1700 pieces with a school drive and a community drive. I wanted to keep as many as I could out of the landfill. They should have arrived last Friday! Will this be an annual event?
