Freaky Fish

Photo: A Pacific barreleye fish

Photograph courtesy Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute

Fishermen and scientists have found pieces of the unusual Pacific barreleye fish in their nets since 1939, but the first photos of live, intact fish were released today. Their grayish, barrel-like fish eyes are upright tubes, which are protected by a transparent dome on the top of the head, similar to the cockpit of a fighter plane.
Because of the position of the eyes, "it just looked like [they only] looked straight up," Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute marine technician Kim Reisenbichler said. But by watching live fish the scientists discovered that the eyes can pivot, like a birdwatcher pointing binoculars.

you are so right bubblgum300 and sonicguy22

That fish is so COOL! I wish i could see one of those fish in the wild!

Sorry to burst YOUR bubble :)sam-antha(:, but that fish is real. National Geographic is a proffessional magazine and would not post a photshop in an article without saying "APRIL-FOOLS!" at the end.
Seeing as this article came out in February, not April, and the fact that that would have to be some pretty heavy-duty photoshop skills, I'm guessing this photo is most definatly the real thing
NEVER DOUBT THE POWER OF EVOLUTION!
