Visit to Petra-Day Two

Here are a few more photos from our journey on the first day of our two-day trip.

The next day we decided to hike to The Dayr (ad-Dayr), which means The Monastery.

It was a huge climb, twice the size of the one the day before! It is so tough that only a few of us dared to go up. I went with Suraya, her aunt, my parents, Rakan my brother and my friend Tala.

We saw the mountains, amazing colours, and it made me feel like I was in another world. It was so funny to see donkeys climbing up and down all by themselves so well behaved! Some people take donkey rides to get to the top as it is so exhausting to climb.

Finally we got to the top, we saw a huge  monument--The Deyr, it was really stunning. It looks a lot like The Treasury, but not as pink.

We climbed out even further where there was a funny sign that said "the view of the end of the earth," we climbed up the rocks and looked over the cliff, down to the valley of Wadi Araba, which extends all the way from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba.

I was so relieved to be sitting down! I was inspired by the beauty of it and I noticed how quiet it was.

It was one of the best and most interesting trips ever! I really loved it, and found out I really enjoy hiking.
