Jordanian Folk Night

In my blog about school I mentioned that in our school we put on a great show every year called the Jordanian Folk Night! It is called the Jordanian Folk Night because we sing Jordanian songs and dance the dabka and the guests are entertained by a special guest. All the music played throughout the entire show is performed by our Grade 5 band, and they are incredible.

We were practicing with my music teacher and were getting ready for the show I was in choir and the fashion show (we wear beautiful Jordanian dresses and on our heads we wear what traditional Bedouin ladies wear - the hijab), we do that to show the guests what it really looks like. The show was going to be for three nights. My friends and Iwere so excited especially as we were not going to lessons for two days, so we could go up to the theater and practice. Practicing seemed to go on for ever, most of us got really bored waiting for our turns but I knew in the end it would be a great show!

On the day of the first night I was super nervous I felt butterflies in my stomach and felt like I was going to make a huge mistake. When we were walking to enter on stage I was ready in my costume  (the school only gives the fashion show girls costumes because we don't were a hijab in our regular days, of course!)

I stepped onto the stage and immediately spotted my little brother Hamza screaming GO AYAT! GO AYAT! I looked up at the crowd in front of me and was so eager for the show to start.

It went pretty well, I sang all the songs I was supposed to sing and stood on stage not very nervous, until it was the time for the fashion show to start.

I went out of the choir and stood in a line to enter onto the front of the stage to begin the dance. It was great fun I was doing the steps I was told to do and was hoping everybody would like it!

The next two nights were pretty much the same it was great! I forgot to tell you who the special guest was. He was a famous Jordanian singer who sang the song for our Jordanian football team  Al Faisali, his name is Metab AlSegar. We got a chance  to go to the front of stage and dance with him.

It was a wonderful show and amazing experience!
